Poem of Colors: The Most Remarkable Abodes from Costa Careyes to the Yucatán Peninsula

The homes of Mexico are a living testament to the country's vibrant cultural tapestry—where native tribal styles and Spanish colonial architecture converge in spaces defined by warm, textured simplicity. This updated, compact portfolio invites you into inspiring villas, casitas, haciendas, cabanas, and palapas, each one a celebration of color, craft, and the art of living well.

Rich pigments and vivid patterns—born from the union of Aztec and Mayan traditions with Spanish influences—come together in rustic yet refined interiors. Bold textiles, handwoven details, and earthy materials create an aesthetic that is both invigorating and deeply homely, an authentic expression of Mexican style that feels as welcoming as it is visually arresting.

The dynamic photographer and writer duo Barbara and René Stoeltie have traveled far and wide, from the sun-drenched coast of Costa Careyes to the lush Yucatán Peninsula, capturing the country's most remarkable abodes. From the Constructivist home of architect Luis Barragán to a restored 16th-century hacienda and a traditional Mayan thatched-roof dwelling, the contrast of styles within these pages is a testament to Mexico's vibrantly diverse palette of textures and hues.

Featuring many new and previously unpublished images, this photographic journey will surprise, delight, and transport you to the heart of lush and eclectic Mexico—a place where every room tells a story and every detail is steeped in tradition.
